About

I’ve taught and researched at the University of California, Davis (Davis, CA, USA); Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz (Mainz, RP, DE); The College of Idaho (Caldwell, ID, USA); and Valdosta State University (Valdosta, GA, USA). During the 2021-22 academic year, I was a Visiting Assistant Professor of English at The College of Idaho, where I taught courses in US and British Literature from the early modern period to the contemporary.  I’ve been an Assistant Professor of English at Valdosta State University since the fall of 2022.

My research and part of my teaching revolve around the continuing salience of frontier tropes–really, Western Americana turned into figures and narratives–in North American literature and visual art. Over the last few years, I’ve been particularly interested in authors and artists from historically marginalized groups who appropriate stock figures and narratives associated with the Western American frontier.
